Dr. Yiyun Chen is a Professor at Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a joint Professor at ShanghaiTech University. He graduated with honors in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Peking University. After which he earned his Ph.D. in organic chemistry in 2007 in the group of Professor Chulbom Lee at Princeton University. He then performed postdoctoral research in chemical biology at Professor David R. Liu’s group at Harvard University and Howard Hughes Medical Institute. In fall 2011, he joined Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry as a Principle Investigator, with the research interest on biocompatible visible-light-chemistry.

Chen’s academic and research accomplishments have earned distinctions including Shanghai Science and Technology Youth Award (2018), Perfect Light Excellent Young Scholar Award of Photochemistry in China (2017), NSFC Excellent Young Scholar Award (2016), “Thousand Talents Program” Young Investigator Award (2012). Chen is the member of editorial board of ChemPhotoChem since 2016.
